Crochet a Koco for KinderBeestFeest Foundation

Since 2019, Koco has been the mascot of the Children's Beast Festival at ARTIS. And now you can crochet one yourself! Fun to have, but even more fun: to give as gifts to our special guests. Will you help us make sure we can hand out Koko hugs in 2025? The CAL starts on November 1.

What is the KinderBeestFeest?

The KinderBeestFeest is a unique party for children in North Holland, Flevoland and Leiden with disabilities or care needs. Together with their parents, brothers and sisters, they are invited by hospitals and institutions to an exclusive evening opening at ARTIS. With various emergency vehicles, the guests will be transported in a unique way. During the KinderBeestFeest a large group of enthusiastic volunteers is ready to provide the guests with a free, carefree and above all unforgettable evening.

Who is Koco?

Leading up to the 20th anniversary of the KinderBeestFeest, there was a drawing contest among the guests of edition 2018: who will design the KinderBeestFeest mascot? More than 500 children participated. The design of Rhona from Purmerend won. She made a combination of different animals from ARTIS: a ring-tailed lemur, an elephant and a duck!

Koco is now a real personality. He is positive in life and looks with wonder at the world around him. Koco is part of the KinderBeestFeest!

This is how you participate?

Crochet Koco using the free crochet pattern and hand in your end result at 1 of the following locations:

Inspiratiecentrum Wolplein: Doornepol 5, 5301 LV Zaltbommel
Stichting KinderBeestFeest: P.O. Box 15249, 1001 ME Amsterdam
YarnZoo: Stroomwal 20, 1967 JK Heemskerk

Je kunt meedoen met het garenpakket van Wolplein of met eigen garen.

When and how will I receive the pattern?

The CAL starts on Friday November 1st 2024. You will receive the complete pattern.

Tip: also check your advertising box or junk mail. Sometimes the mail ends up there!

What materials do I need?

Below you will find everything that you need to participate in this CAL:

Yarn and Colors Must Have 014 Sunflower, 2 mini bollen
Yarn and Colors Must Have 064 Nordic Blue, 1 grote bol
Yarn and Colors Must Have 060 Navy Blue, 1 grote bol
Yarn and Colors Must Have 021 Sunset, 1 mini bol
Yarn and Colors Must Have 001 White, 2 mini bollen
Yarn and Colors Must Have 059 Dark Blue, 1 grote bol
Yarn and Colors Must Have 032 Pepper, 1 mini bol
Haaknaald 2,5 mm

What should I do when I finish my pattern?

Help us to gift Koco to special guests of the KinderBeestFeest foundation. To do so send your Koco to one of the following locations:
