In this blog I outlined how you can crochet individual numbers. For this example we used cotton yarn with crochet hook E4 (3.5mm). Every number consists of 3 rows, among which a chain. Crochet in rows ending every row with a turning chain (TC). The numbers are made up of pieces and need to be sewed together to form the number.
Number 1
Consists of 2 pieces
The long upright side:
Row 1: start a chain of 13 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 12 ch, TC [12]
Row 3: sc in all 12 st, TC [12]
The oblique short piece:
Row 1: start a chain of 6 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 5 ch, TC [5]
Row 3: sc in all 5 st, TC [5]
Let this angled short piece point down a bit.
Number 2.
Consists of 2 pieces
The top, the circle:
Row 1: start a chain of 11 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 10 ch, TC [10]
Row 3: Inc in all 10 st, TC [20]
By increasing you see that you automatically get a round. This does not have to close completely for the 2.
The next downward pointing bit:
Row 1: start a chain of 6 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 5 ch, TC [5]
Row 3: sc in all 5 st, TC [5]
The bottom lying piece:
Row 1: start a chain of 9 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 8 ch, TC [8]
Row 3: sc in all 8 st, TC [8]
When sewing the pieces together, make sure that the downward pointing piece aligns nicely with the bottom and top pieces.
Number 3
Consists of 2 pieces, 2x the same.
Row 1: start a chain of 11 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 10 ch, TC [10]
Row 3: Inc in all 10 st, TC [20]
By increasing you see that you automatically get a round. This does not have to close completely for the 3. Sew the 2 open circles together.
Number 4
Consists of 3 pieces
The bevel of the 4:
Row 1: start a chain of 11 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 10 ch, TC [10]
Row 3: sc in all 10 st, TC [10]
The long straight side of the 4:
Row 1: start a chain of 14 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 13 ch, TC [13]
Row 3: sc in all 13 st, TC [13]
The transverse part:
Row 1: start a chain of 10 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 9 ch, TC [9]
Row 3: sc in all 9 st, TC [9]
Number 5
Consists of 3 pieces
The top lying part:
Row 1: start a chain of 8 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 7 ch, TC [7]
Row 3: sc in all 7 st, TC [7]
The upright piece:
Row 1: start a chain of 7 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 6 ch, TC [6]
Row 3: sc in all 6 st, TC [6]
The bottom open circle
Row 1: start a chain of 11 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 10 ch, TC [10]
Row 3: Inc in all 10 st, TC [20]
By increasing you see that you automatically get a round. This does not have to close completely for the 5.
Number 6
Consists of 2 pieces
The oblique piece:
Row 1: start a chain of 9 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 8 ch, TC [8]
Row 3: sc in all 8 st, TC [8]
The bottom round:
Row 1: start a chain of 11 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 10 ch, TC [10]
Row 3: inc in all 10 st, TC [20]
By increasing you see that you automatically get a round. This will be closed for the 6. Pin the circle ends together. Make the first piece point diagonally to the right.
Number 7
Consists of 2 pieces
The top lying part:
Row 1: start a chain of 8 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 7 ch, TC [7]
Row 3: sc in all 7 st, TC [7]
The obliquely downward pointing part:
Row 1: start a chain of 13 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 12 ch, TC [12]
Row 3: sc in all 12 st, TC [12]
Number 8
Consists of 2 pieces, 2x the same
Row 1: start a chain of 11 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 10 ch, TC [10]
Row 3.: inc in all 10 st, TC [20]
By increasing you see that you automatically get a round. This will be closed for the 8. Pin the circle ends together.
Number 9
Consists of 2 pieces
The top round:
Row 1: start a chain of 11 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 10 ch, TC [10]
Row 3: inc in all 10 st, TC [20]
By increasing you see that you automatically get a round. This will be closed for the 9. Pin the circle ends together.
The oblique piece:
Row 1: start a chain of 9 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 8 ch, TC [8]
Row 3: sc in all 8 st, TC [8]
Make the first piece point diagonally to the left.
Number 0
Consists of 1 piece
Row 1: start a chain of 26 st. start in the second chain from hook
Row 2: sc in all 26 ch, TC [26]
Row 3: (inc in next st) repeat 3 times, 10 sc, (inc in next st) repeat 3 times, 7 sc, (inc in next st) repeat 2 times [33]
Close the circle. Pin it into an oval shape.
